Professor Andrey Solov’yov participated in the COST Connect meeting "Beating cancer in 2030: Mission impossible?" on the future of European cancer research. The meeting took place on May 21-22, 2019, at the European Cooperation in Science & Technology (COST) Headquarters in Brussels, Belgium.
This event gathered coordinators of recent COST Actions focused on different aspects of cancer research. The meeting offered an interactive forum to participants involved in basic and translational cancer research to identify the current needs and gaps in the field in order to pave the way towards a closer cooperation between research networks and other relevant stakeholders.
The COST Action "Nano-IBCT", running during 2010-2014 under the coordination of Prof. Andrey Solov’yov, was devoted to acquiring a deeper understanding of radiation induced damage with ions on the nanoscopic and molecular level. The main scientific achievements obtained during this COST Action were summarized in the book "Nanoscale insights into Ion Beam Cancer Therapy" published by Springer.
