Kaspar Haume, Pablo de Vera and Alexey Verkhovtsev, the Early Stage Researchers (ESRs) of the Initial Training Network (ITN) Project “Advanced Radiotherapy, Generated by Exploiting Nanoprocesses and Technologies (ARGENT)”, running in the frame of the FP7 European Programme, visited MBN Research Center in April-May 2016.
During this stay, the ESRs jointed efforts for studying transport of secondary electrons emitted from coated metal nanoparticles by means of different analytical and computational methods. This study aims to provide information on the electronic properties and radiosensitization potential of different nanoparticles, which are of current interest for radiotherapy applications. MBN Explorer and MBN Studio software have been exploited in this research.
The ESRs also participated in the mini-workshop on theoretical and computational multiscale modelling in radiation research, which was held in Frankfurt in the beginning of May.
