Summer School on theoretical and computational methods for studying irradiation-driven physics and chemistry processes

August 14, 2023
The Summer School on theoretical and computational methods for studying irradiation-driven physics and chemistry processes, organized within the COST Action MultIChem, took place in Bad Bertrich, Germany, during August 7-10, 2023.

The 4-day school aimed to train young researchers – members of the MultIChem COST Action – in theoretical and computational methods for studying irradiation-driven physics and chemistry processes involving complex molecular, nanoparticle, and condensed matter systems. The school thematically expanded the previous MultIChem training schools (October 2022, Lisbon, Portugal and March 2023, Debrecen, Hungary) by providing its participants a multidisciplinary overview of the theoretical and computational methods in the field of irradiation-driven physics and chemistry to pursue such research within the framework of the Action.

The program of the school consisted of (i) lectures on irradiation-driven physics and chemistry processes involving molecular and condensed matter systems and (ii) interactive practical sessions, where participants presented their computational research projects and discussed their practical realization with colleagues and tutors. The practical part of the school was based on the utilization of the MBN Explorer and MBN Studio software packages.
