CECAM Workshop took place in Lausanne

March 25, 2022
The Flagship Workshop "Multiscale modelling of irradiation-driven processes for emerging technologies" was held in Lausanne, Switzerland during March 16-18, 2022.

The Workshop was organized by Dr. Alexey Verkhovtsev and Prof. Dr. Andrey Solov’yov (MBN Research Center) and Prof. Nigel Mason (University of Kent, UK) under the auspices of the European Center for Atomic and Molecular Calculations (CECAM). The workshop took place in CECAM Headquarters at the École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) campus.

The workshop brought together expert theoreticians, experimentalists and technologists studying material properties and irradiation-driven processes relevant to selected emerging technologies (surface deposition techniques, nanofabrication, 3D nanoprinting using focused electron & ion beams, novel light sources). It provided a forum for discussion of the current state-of-the-art, theoretical, experimental and technological challenges and possible multiscale computational solutions to address these challenges.

The meeting confirmed the ongoing development of an active community engaged in multiscale modelling of irradiation-driven processes and demonstrated increasing links between academics and different communities that apply Multiscale Modelling (MM) to a wide range of technological and scientific applications. This community necessarily includes the experimental community which provides validation of the multiscale models.

The booklet containing the scientific program of the workshop can be found here.
